Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar handed over the 'TMGB-Luna Samsuddoha Scholarship-2023' and educational materials to the children of journalists' organization- Technology Media Guild Bangladesh TMGB.

On Friday (November 17) morning, this scholarship and educational materials were distributed for the second time in the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of Dhaka University's Faculty of Social Sciences building.

General Secretary of TMGB Mursalin Haque Junayed delivered his welcome speech and moderated the event.

As the chief guest, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mustafa Jabbar while spoke, highlighted the importance of digitization of the government in the field of education. He also highlighted the progress towards Smart Bangladesh through this transformation of education from agriculture based.

He said, 'Now parents have two challenges, one is to make themselves worthy as well as to make their children worthy. The country that used to be a plough-yoke country, a country that was backward in technology, backward in industry, where the world has changed, Bangladesh has also changed now. Now mobile phone has become the only means of communication. And the country has progressed in digitalization through smartphones.'

The minister said, 'Now the Internet has expanded. So if a student does not have access to digital devices now, they will naturally be left behind. Once they had to sit in the library to get information; now they can find it in seconds from their hand-held devices.'

Mustafa Jabbar said, 'Everything is available in this digital device. There is just as much bad content as there is good content. Many times children get exposed to bad content as many parents do not monitor these things. So parents have to be careful and give them the opportunity to gain knowledge from this device.'

TMGB has awarded this scholarship to 17 children of its members. Apart from this, 21 people were provided with various educational materials.

TMGB President Mohammad Kawsar Uddin recalled Luna Samsuddoha's contribution to the country's information technology sector in his address, while speaking as the president of the event. He thanked her family for introducing TMGB scholarships for children after her name.
